ONPAR Research Project

Our current research examines the efficacy of the ONPAR assessment system in middle school science classrooms using a randomized controlled trial. We are also studying how teachers and students leverage ONPAR assessments and reporting data to inform teaching and learning.

The four goals of this project are:

  1. refine and validate ONPAR materials to meet the identifiable needs of users
  2. increase teacher efficacy for NGSS assessment and data-driven instruction
  3. improve outcomes for high-need middle school science learners, particularly English Learners and developing readers, and
  4. build capacity for sustaining and expanding use of the ONPAR system.

This project is an Education, Innovation, and Research (EIR) early-phase grant. The EIR program is designed to generate and validate solutions to persistent educational challenges and to support the expansion of effective solutions to serve substantially larger numbers of students.
